Five years after investing in a Talbott’s biomass boiler and heating system at their Midlands-based headquarters, Utopia Furniture Ltd has reported a significant reduction in the company’s carbon footprint as part of its ongoing commitment to the environment.

As Jon Phelps, Production Engineering Manager at Utopia, comments “The biomass boiler and heating system represented a considerable investment for Utopia but we really are reaping the benefits now.  Collecting off-cuts and dust waste in skips and then transporting it to landfill sites was not only costly but also unsustainable in environmental terms. This way we eliminate all of that process whilst generating our own energy.”

Since its installation in April 2017, over 3,000 tonnes of wood waste has been used to fuel the biomass boiler. That’s the equivalent of 300 large skips full of waste which would previously have been collected and transported to landfill sites. This waste has generated over 500,000kwh for Utopia which has heated the factory and offices during the winter months and also kept the two ovens used during the manufacturing process at the correct curing temperature all year round. To put this into perspective, 500,000kwh would heat 10 x 40ft indoor swimming pools for a year or heat 125 average size houses for a year.

The biomass heating system is just part of Utopia’s strategy to lessen its impact on the environment by constantly reviewing manufacturing practices as well as designing more sustainable products. The company is proud to exceed environmental targets each year by recycling packaging and has also taken steps to minimise the use of cardboard by cutting packaging to exact size on site. In addition, every year tonnes of packaging waste is recovered and recycled.  Almost 100% of the timber used in Utopia’s furniture is FSC certified and the company continues to actively explore new eco friendly measures to reduce its carbon footprint still further.

Utopia Furniture Ltd has appointed Isabel Conn as its new Marketing & Digital Coordinator.

Isabel, who has a first-class honours degree in Visual Communication from Birmingham City University, will be a key member of the marketing team and, in particular, will assist in developing and growing the company’s digital strategy.

Since graduating, Isabel has worked on a number of live creative briefs set by global advertising agency McCann, in customer-focused roles with the McArthurGlen Group and, more recently, within the bathroom sector gaining valuable experience.

Commenting on her new role, Isabel said “I am delighted to be joining this market-leading brand at such an exciting time and look forward to learning a variety of new skills whilst making a positive contribution to the day to day running of the marketing department.”

Helen Clark, Head of Marketing at Utopia, comments “Isabel joins the business at a truly inspiring time as we unveil a host of new products to the market this Spring. With Isabel’s degree experience, creativity and enthusiasm we have no doubt she will be a fantastic addition to the business and will be key in delivering our future marketing campaigns.”

Utopia Bathrooms has strengthened its sales team with the appointment of Daniel Rudge as Business Development Executive for the Eastern region of England.

Daniel has many years’ experience in the KBB sector including over five years with Bathstore, joining as a design sales consultant and rising to store manager with responsibility for both the Aylesbury and Hemel Hempstead branches. More recently, Daniel worked in the flooring industry and it is from this role that he joins Utopia.

Welcoming Daniel to Utopia, Alex Patterson, Head of Retail, comments “We’re delighted that Daniel has joined us in this key role at such an exciting, albeit challenging, time. His expertise in the sector will be invaluable. By investing heavily now in our sales team and our new product development programme, we are ensuring Utopia is well placed to capitalise on the exceptional current demand for bathroom renovations, emerging even stronger than before Covid-19 struck.”

On top of two recent significant product launches, Utopia’s latest initiative is a new Fast Track delivery service offering three to five-day delivery on a dedicated selection of the newly refreshed Qube collection of wall mounted and freestanding bathroom furniture.

The products available via the new Fast Track service are in the popular White Gloss or Pebble Grey Gloss finish and are all detailed in the new Qube brochure.

Helen Clark, Head of Marketing at Utopia Bathrooms, comments, “We understand just how frustrating it can be if schedules change and product is required urgently. We’ve listened to the feedback from some of our customers and are delighted that we can now offer this service. It’s become very clear that there is a requirement for a speedily delivered offering and, with the further development of our new Qube collection, we are now able to offer a selection of this furniture range on a quicker turnaround.”

These new finishes are at the very forefront of material technology and offer a truly luxurious soft touch feel and a sense of quality. It’s official! Once again, Utopia has been voted the UK’s Best bathroom Furniture Brand in the annual BKU Awards 2020.

Utopia – proud to be an award-winning British manufacturer of beautiful bathrooms.

Utopia Bathrooms has introduced a striking new brochure to coincide with its Summer 2020 product launch. In pride of place on the front cover is the new Azure Blue finish, just one of 11 new door finishes introduced across several of its key ranges.

In keeping with Utopia’s promise to offer an imaginative solution for any bathroom, no matter how small or awkwardly shaped, the 234 page brochure presents the entire collection of 11 ranges in a series of beautifully styled room sets, from the most spacious rooms complete with freestanding baths through to much more modestly proportioned bathrooms including en suites and cloakrooms.

Helen Clark, Head of Marketing, comments ‘With such a comprehensive range of fitted, modular and freestanding furniture collections and an extensive array of options in terms of colour and finish, we want our brochure to inspire and delight our customers, helping to guide them effortlessly towards designing the bathroom of their choice. We’ve included a new, easy to use, pull out section at the front presenting all our finishes and we’ve also invested heavily in new imagery, incorporating a handy ‘get the look’ guide on each page.

The new brochure is out now and is also available to browse or download directly as a pdf file from here.

Utopia Bathrooms is delighted to announce that its major product launch for Spring / Summer 2020 is now set to be unveiled.

Colour and texture are key to this latest exciting new product launch. Reflecting the vital role colour plays in any environment and particularly in our bathrooms, seven new foil finishes are being introduced across several of Utopia’s furniture collections, along with two stunning new colours to extend the colour palette for the heritage-inspired Roseberry painted timber collection. In addition to the new colours and finishes, there are significant additions and upgrades across several of the collections plus a striking collection of new handles and fabulous matt black brassware options for the first time.

Anticipating trends for both colour and finish, the seven new foil finishes are Azure Blue, Blush, Sea Green, Storm Grey, Silver Fusion, Pewter Fusion and Burnt Copper, all available across the Original Fitted, YOU, iLine, Symmetry and Geo ranges. Silver Fusion and Pewter Fusion have a lightly textured surface appearance giving visual depth to the colours while Burnt Copper has a tactile metallic finish. Four of the new colours – Blush, Sea Green, Azure Blue and Storm Grey – feature a brand new and highly innovative super matt, soft touch foil finish.

Helen Clark, Head of Marketing, comments “Innovation is the life blood of our business so we are particularly pleased that our new product development programme lost none of its creative impetus during the lockdown. We’re so proud of our team for delivering a whole world of exciting new products and colours on time and against this challenging background. In a way, it feels more than a product launch, it’s our way of demonstrating that it’s business as usual at Utopia, manufacturing beautiful bathrooms all designed and made here in the UK.”

Utopia Bathrooms is delighted to announce that its spacious showroom, dramatically updated to showcase the new products and colours scheduled for imminent launch, is now open to visitors strictly by appointment only. In accordance with current guidelines, the company is implementing rigid safety and social distancing procedures to safeguard both staff and visitors.

The extensive mezzanine showroom at the company’s Wolverhampton headquarters presents Utopia’s extensive collection of fitted and modular bathroom furniture through a series of over 45 inspirational lifestyle settings. Styles range from the heritage-inspired Roseberry and Downton through to the Contemporary Fitted collection, Lustre and Opula modular ranges, and the boutique hotel-style Geo, all accessorised with brassware and tiles from Utopia’s complementary collections.

Commenting on the updated showroom, Helen Clark, Head of Marketing, explains, “There’s no substitute for seeing and feeling our products first hand as our retailers will testify and we have received a number of customer enquiries about visiting us. The showroom is therefore an invaluable resource, enabling us to showcase new concepts, products and finishes to retailers along with imaginative display solutions.”

Also key to a number of new displays is the ability to mix and match elements from different ranges to create a bespoke look. Several of the displays demonstrate this interchangeable facility which allows even greater design flexibility.

Retailers wishing to visit the newly refitted showroom should email marketing@utopiagroup.com to arrange an appointment.
