Intrepid staff at Utopia’s Wolverhampton headquarters dodged the showers to raise over £1,500 on their annual 10k charity walk recently. This enjoyable event is organised by Matt Cox, an Assembly Team Supervisor at Utopia. Matt describes the walk as a pleasant stroll with colleagues, stopping for refreshments along the way.

With a record £1,545 raised this year so far and the possibility of further donations to come, the impressive sum will be split between the Men’s Mental Health Charity, which aims to raise awareness about mental health among men, and Utopia’s own Liz Green Fund, set up to benefit cancer charities and local causes in memory of one of the founding directors Liz Green.

The happy group of 20 walkers had a brilliant day and actually walked 11.2k in total, all strikingly attired in bright pink T shirts proudly displaying the logos of the two chosen charities.

Matt comments “Quite apart from raising valuable funds for charity, this is such a brilliant team-building occasion. It’s a great opportunity for Utopia staff to spend time together outside work. Congratulations to everyone who took part.”

From striking black and white geometric patterns to natural textured effects, Utopia’s tile offering has been significantly extended with the addition of 14 new design families offering a total of 53 new tiles.

Utopia has long recognised the importance of selling a complete look through its imagery and showroom displays with tiles playing a key role whether to provide a dramatic backdrop, a neutral, understated background or indeed something in between.

Realistic natural effects continue to play a key role in the overall tile collection with effects such as the Sherwood wood effect porcelain wall and floor tiles and new textured stone effects like Pentire Strands, Barras Calico wall tiles and the Constantine Sands trio of complementary tiles. Adding visual drama are the striking Gotham wall and floor tiles comprising five stunning geometric patterns and three complementary plain tiles. Very popular at the moment are the thin rectangular wall tiles which can be arranged horizontally, vertically or artistically in a tessellated pattern, and Utopia has added a variety of ranges, colours and a choice of matt or gloss finish. Complementing these are the Harlyn wall tiles which offer a dedicated chevron effect.

Helen Clark, Head of Marketing at Utopia, comments “With these exciting latest additions, our tile collection offers an immense variety of colours, textures and sizes, including large format options. We hope our vibrant imagery together with our online Visualise design tool, which allows all of our wall and floor tiles to be viewed in any potential layout, will encourage consumers to be creative with complete confidence when it comes to tile choice.”

Utopia further supports its newly extended tile collection with a free sampling service for the end consumer.

A completely new on-trend unicolor look has been created for Utopia’s YOU modular furniture collection with the introduction of colour coordinated cladding panels. New sit-on basins and worktop options, new brassware and a choice of new contemporary handles complete the radical transformation.

Key to the new look are the cladding panels which are available in all 19 YOU colours and finishes, including four super matt, soft touch colours and 15 additional gloss, matt and textured options.  The cladding panels can be used to create the popular unicolour effect and are perfect teamed with 12mm compact laminate worktops from the collection and the newly extended range of sit-on basins. Brand new basin styles include two glossy mineralcast basins, the circular Stratton and the generously proportioned, oval Hepworth as well as the new Quinn, a matt ceramic circular basin available in Chalk (white) or Twilight (black) colourways with coordinating wastes.

Also contributing to the new look is the introduction of the Vector handle. Vector is a short, industrial-inspired yet elegant handle offered in brushed chrome, brushed brass and matt black.

YOU is one of Utopia’s key modular furniture collections. Explaining the new additions, Rich Shore, Head of Product Design, said “The full unicolour look is hugely on-trend at the moment, so opening up the availability and flexibility of Utopia’s extensive décor collection to YOU has been a real revolution.”  Helen Clark, Head of Marketing, adds “With some clever introductions and by ensuring the collection is even more configurable with colour, worktop finish, basin choice, and handle style and finish, there are so many distinct looks that can be achieved. Combined with other additions to the product range, such as the Luma circular mirror, YOU has been given a completely new, fresh look.”

Utopia has unveiled dramatic new additions to Roseberry, its premium solid timber range of fitted, freestanding and wall mounted bathroom furniture.

Key elements of the new and significantly expanded Roseberry collection include luxurious curved timber units in both wall mounted and freestanding configurations, designed to create a show-stopping centre piece, an extensive new collection of elegant washstands with authentic oak towel slats in multiple sizes and options, and an array of new freestanding vanity units with a choice of drawers or doors.  Alongside this, a host of additional units has been added to the Roseberry fitted offering, including stunning curved unit options to provide an elegant end to a run of fitted units.

Complementing the new units is an extended choice of sit-on basins, new solid surface decors, new modern and traditional handles, and stylish brassware in chrome, matt black and brass options.

Designed to be sustainable and long-lasting, Roseberry is made from responsibly sourced timber and teamed with luxurious complementary materials. Rich Shore, Utopia’s Head of Product Design, says, “Designing the expansion of an existing collection with such strong foundations was both challenging and liberating.  Our new Roseberry 2022 collection needed to be fresh, bold and inspiring whilst sitting harmoniously with the existing collection and we strongly believe that is exactly what we have delivered.”

In eight paint shades, the new collection offers a truly comprehensive choice as the units are configurable to suit all tastes and styles, whether a light airy contemporary look or a twist on a traditional feel.  The newly extended range of sizes also ensures that a Roseberry bathroom can be created in any room no matter what the shape or dimensions.

Commenting on the new Roseberry Collection, Helen Clark, Head of Marketing at Utopia, says “These strategic additions to Roseberry greatly increase the choice and versatility of this premium range. Alongside the inspired design, luxurious materials and quality craftsmanship, we have also paid careful attention to ease of installation as would be expected.  In addition, attention to detail can be seen in such features as the craftsmanship of the curved units, the finish and quality of the solid timber, the silent and soft closing drawer box mechanism, the stylish Eton Oak internals and the new curved plinth detail.  We are absolutely delighted to present this new collection and the feedback has already been absolutely overwhelming.”

Utopia Furniture Ltd has appointed Isabel Conn as its new Marketing & Digital Coordinator.

Isabel, who has a first-class honours degree in Visual Communication from Birmingham City University, will be a key member of the marketing team and, in particular, will assist in developing and growing the company’s digital strategy.

Since graduating, Isabel has worked on a number of live creative briefs set by global advertising agency McCann, in customer-focused roles with the McArthurGlen Group and, more recently, within the bathroom sector gaining valuable experience.

Commenting on her new role, Isabel said “I am delighted to be joining this market-leading brand at such an exciting time and look forward to learning a variety of new skills whilst making a positive contribution to the day to day running of the marketing department.”

Helen Clark, Head of Marketing at Utopia, comments “Isabel joins the business at a truly inspiring time as we unveil a host of new products to the market this Spring. With Isabel’s degree experience, creativity and enthusiasm we have no doubt she will be a fantastic addition to the business and will be key in delivering our future marketing campaigns.”

Utopia Furniture Ltd is continuing to invest in its local community by introducing an apprenticeship scheme. As a major employer in the Wolverhampton area, the company has many long-standing local employees and is keen to support and encourage new talent into the business.

The first two apprentices have already joined the company as part of the scheme which allows them to attend Dudley College of Technology for one or more days each week. Chloe Powell has joined as an IT Junior Apprentice for an initial two years leading to an Infrastructure Technician qualification. Adam Briscoe is a new Maintenance Apprentice and will work towards a Mechatronic Maintenance Technician qualification over the next three and a half years.

Dave Conn, Joint MD of Utopia, says “Young people are the lifeblood and future of our industry so it’s vitally important that we attract the next generation by offering a proper, structured career opportunity resulting in both formal qualifications and meaningful work experience. We look forward to nurturing this new talent and hope our apprentices will go on to have long and rewarding careers with us.”

Currently offering its largest range of bathroom furniture to date and with another major product launch imminent, Utopia has introduced three new dedicated brochures.

Designed to provide clear focus to its extensive range of furniture collections, Utopia has split its offering to provide a dedicated and focused solution for Fitted Furniture, Modular Furniture and the Roseberry painted timber collection, whilst also comprehensively covering its complementary products portfolio.

With significant product launches across the board this Spring, the brochures feature stunning new imagery to inspire consumers as well as suggesting creative and imaginative solutions for every bathroom type.

In keeping with its environmental policy, Utopia is acutely mindful of the impact of brochure production. Whilst many people view brochures online with the option to download them, there is still a definite requirement for a printed brochure and the company has therefore taken advantage of the latest developments in paper sourcing and printing techniques to minimise the impact of this.

As Helen Clark, Utopia’s Head of Marketing, explains “Working closely with our ISO14001 accredited printing partner, we have specified that all paper used is not only FSC certified but also ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free), which means it has been bleached using chlorine dioxide as opposed to the more harmful chlorine gas method. In addition, the printing process uses vegetable-based inks and water-based coatings, and a minimum of 40% of each brochure is recycled material.”

Utopia has also opted to go one step further by paying an additional supplement to carbon balance the paper through the World Land Trust, an international conservation charity that protects the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats acre by acre.

Utopia is delighted to announce that it is extending its comprehensive sampling service to include tiles. Consumers may now order up to three free tile samples from its extensive collection of floor and wall tiles via the sample request page on the website (www.utopiagroup.com/samples).

This latest move is part of Utopia’s ongoing strategy to provide exceptional customer support. As Helen Clark, Head of Marketing, explains “Investing in and refurbishing your home has never been more important for people than it is today and we already know how vital it is for consumers to achieve that perfect co-ordination in the overall room décor. Ultimately there’s nothing like seeing and feeling samples in your own home and this is particularly true of our tile collection where patterned, embossed and gloss finishes need to be seen to be fully appreciated.”

Utopia currently offers 27 floor and 41 wall tiles, ranging from heritage-inspired patterned effects and classic marble styles through to contemporary designs and finishes. All have been carefully selected to complement the furniture ranges and are presented throughout the brochure and website in inspirational settings.

Utopia has refreshed its Halo range of contemporary wall mounted bathroom furniture with the addition of a beautiful new oak finish, an extended choice of basins and a number of co-ordinating ancillary items.

The introduction of Washed Oak, a warm, natural finish with a beautiful woodgrain effect, brings the number of Halo finishes to six, while a new slimline ceramic basin offers an alternative to the existing Gloss and Matt Coralux solid surface washbasin options.

Also new to the range are co-ordinating bath plinths to accompany bath side and end panels, co-ordinating worktops for toilet units and filler panels to allow for a corner installation.

Helen Clark, Head of Marketing at Utopia Bathrooms, comments “The appeal of Halo lies in its modern minimalist design which makes it the perfect choice for a contemporary bathroom. Our new Washed Oak finish complements the simple linear styling of the furniture offering a natural, spa-like feel and will undoubtedly broaden the appeal of the range still further.”

Utopia Bathrooms has strengthened its sales team with the appointment of Daniel Rudge as Business Development Executive for the Eastern region of England.

Daniel has many years’ experience in the KBB sector including over five years with Bathstore, joining as a design sales consultant and rising to store manager with responsibility for both the Aylesbury and Hemel Hempstead branches. More recently, Daniel worked in the flooring industry and it is from this role that he joins Utopia.

Welcoming Daniel to Utopia, Alex Patterson, Head of Retail, comments “We’re delighted that Daniel has joined us in this key role at such an exciting, albeit challenging, time. His expertise in the sector will be invaluable. By investing heavily now in our sales team and our new product development programme, we are ensuring Utopia is well placed to capitalise on the exceptional current demand for bathroom renovations, emerging even stronger than before Covid-19 struck.”
